Essential Requirements To Work As An Agency Healthcare Assistant (HCA) Or Support Worker

To register and work with us as an HCA or support worker in the UK, you must meet the following basic requirements:

1. Formal training: possess formal or vocational training equivalent to a Band 2 or Band 3 HCA.

2. Experience: prior work experience in the healthcare sector is necessary. If you lack experience, we can provide you with shadowing opportunities for up to six months to build your portfolio. Remember, advancement within the band system hinges on a combination of experience, training, and clinical hours, making these factors crucial for HCA staff across the UK. It's important to note that a Band 2 HCA typically has less experience than a Band 3 HCA.

3. Medication administration: Band 3 HCAs must be certified to administer medications.

4. Moving and handling training certification.

5. Life support training.
